Mother’s Day Activity Ideas

Moms take care of everyone in the family— kids and dogs alike, so why not include the family dog in the celebrations!

Spend time together making art with the family dog! Make a paw print ornament out of salt dough, try the peanut butter lick art idea, or have a painting competition of who can paint the best portrait of Fido!

Get outdoors! Organize a set time for every month for the rest of the year to take the whole family for a walk with your pup. Catch up on each month’s events and bond with the family dog, together! There are TONS of options around the Charlotte, North Carolina area if you’re looking to explore more than just your neighborhood.

While you’re out celebrating, be sure to capture the moment with pictures or video! You can then compile video clips, photos, and special moments, and edit them together into a touching montage that celebrates mom's role in the family!

Another idea for a Mother’s Day family activity, is DIY enrichment! Nothing is more fun than watching your dog rip into a toy or puzzle that you’ve set up for them! Make flower-shaped frozen yogurt treats or decorate a cardboard box that you can give your dog to shred. The options are endless! Adding a theme to the family dog’s enrichment can be fun for everyone, and the kids will get to participate too. To help make brainstorming easier, I’ve linked one of my favorite dog enrichment books here. It’ll change everything you think you know about enrichment, and make it better!
